For those with homes built to keep heat in, not let it out: aluminum foil your windows, shiny side out. Cover the window, tape up the sides, maybe tape cardboard behind it to help insulate from the heat outside and absorb heat that gets through the foil.

Love, a former Californian, whose had to keep houses cool without any electricity.

P.S. this is a method endorsed by FEMA and the Department of Energy, so if you need more than anecdotal evidence, there ya go.

I do this up in the PNW and it really helps during heat waves. So much.

a helpful checklist:

✅ fine: talking about your own experiences before you figured out you were trans

✅ fine: talking about common patterns you’ve seen in a general sense

✅ fine: floating the question “have you thought about gender” to someone who you personally know, and know well

⚠️ danger zone!! talking about your personal experience like it is the only way to relate to gender in particular or the world in general

⚠️ fine in private, to an extent: talking to your friends about how you think X stranger or acquaintance might be Y

❌ DO NOT DO THIS: getting angry at the idea that anyone, including non-binary people and other trans women, would be annoyed when you pigeonhole people into the “proto-woman” box

and I don’t want anyone getting on my ass saying this isn’t a valid concern lol. this is something that people close to me have dealt with and been annoyed by. I get that gender is hell and we are all trying to navigate it but please consider how your actions come across if you are wrong about shit - or even if you’re right but it’s something people are working through in private

Can’t believe in the year 2023 we have to say: do not consume borax. It will not provide a “parasite cleanse”, it does not combat the “evil fluoride” in your water, and it is not a super mineral. It will damage your organs. Also, it’s not rated for human consumption so frankly, who knows what it’s cross-contaminated with (my personal bet would be arsenic).
